In the summer of 2021, CAS trainee Siiri Bigalke interned with the Alaska Climate Adaptation Science Center and the International Arctic Research Center under the mentorship of Dr. John Walsh.

Siiri's internship research objective was to find what will happen to Arctic winters if the Paris Climate Agreement's goal of limiting averaged global warming was achieved.

During her internship, Siiri gained skills in working with large ensemble climate data, producing relevant stakeholder science, assisting in fieldwork, handling stabilized warming models, understanding Arctic climate variability, and communicating climate future scenarios to non-science audience.
