Emily Burgess' internship with USU's Bee Lab

In the summers of 2022, CAS trainee Emily Burgess interned with the Bee Lab under the mentorship of Dr. Diana Cox-Foster. As an intern, Emily: 1) processed bee collections from the field to prepare them for museum use; and 2) worked as part of a larger project assessing the interactions between honeybees and wild native bees surrounding apiaries in the Cache National Forest.

Emily's internship helped her gain insight into bee species interactions and wild bee conservation decisions.

Emily gained a skillset in preparing pinned bee collections for museum access and in observing bees.
