Morgan Christman's CAS Internship with the Utah DNR and Wildlife Migration Initiative

In the summer of 2019, CAS trainee Morgan Christman interned with the Utah DNR and Wildlife Migration Initiative under the mentorship of Daniel Olsen. As an intern, Morgan developed a dashboard for the Wildlife Migration Initiative to allow wildlife migration and covariate data to be visualized, mined, and analyzed quickly without having to write programming code or process data.

Morgan contributed to the critical task of documenting, enhancing, and preserving wildlife movement for species in order to successfully manage and conserve wildlife populations as Utah's landscape changes due to climate change. 

Morgan gained a skillset in building interactive web apps, programming abilities, understanding wildlife migration data, and making data more accessible.
