Leanna DeJong's CAS Internship with Point Blue Conservation Science

In the summer of 2021, CAS trainee Leanna DeJong interned with Point Blue Conservation Science under the mentorship of Dr. Sam Veloz, the Climate Adaptation Group Director at Point Blue. 

As an intern, Leanna measured the social and ecological impact of restoring tidal marsh areas in each "watershed" surrounding the San Francisco Bay. These measurements were then used to make a prioritization tool. 

While interning, Leanna gained skills in ArcGIS Pro, R, INVEST models, networking, applied research, urban planning processes, and familiarity with CA ecological restoration strategies.
