Alex Howe's CAS Internship with the Department of Wildland Resources

In the summer of 2021, CAS trainee Alex Howe interned with the Department of Wildland Resources under the mentorship of Dr. Sean Parks. Alex focused on landscape to regional effects of wildfire both historically and under climate change across western North America. 

While working with the Department of Wildland Resources Alex compared Landsat and Sentinal-2 satellites for burn severity mapping of western North American wildfires. 

During his internship Alex increased his proficiency in Google Earth Engine, networked with a large group of fire scientists, and made substantial progress on his dissertation.
