Christina Morrisett's CAS Internship with Friends of the Teton River & the Henry's Fork Foundation

In the summers of 2019 & 2020, CAS trainee Chrstina Morrisett interned with Friends of the Teton River & the Henry's Fork Foundation under the mentorship of Amy Verbeten. As an intern, Christina collaborated with Teton County farmers and ranchers, NGOs, and academic researchers from Boise State University to write a grant pre-proposal to study integrated crop-livestock farming for the USDA Western Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) program.
This pre-proposal project aimed to increase soil health, thereby decreasing irrigation demand, in an effort to drive water scarcity resilience in the region.
Christina gained a skillset in grant writing, remote collaboration, communication with farmers and ranchers, and an understanding of agricultural practices.
