In the summers of 2019 & 2020, CAS trainee Will Munger interned with the USGS, Nature Conservancy, & Canyonlands Research Center under the mentorship of Matt Redd (a ranch manager), Kristen Redd (field station manager), Dr. Mike Duniway (USGS research ecologist), and Dr. Sasha Reed (Southwest Biological Science Center).

As an intern, Will worked to understand climate adaptation needs of the ranching community, which included: 1) managing ranch operations and ecological restoration amidst increasing climate variability; 2) co-creating, scientifically testing, and translating restoration and adaptation best practices; 3) managing rangelands for watershed health; and 4) breeding a climate adaptive cow, a Criollo Raramuri and Red Angus hybrid.
