Michaela Shallue's CAS Internship with Utah State University Eastern's Prehistoric Museum

In the summer of 2022, CAS trainee Michaela Shallue interned at USU Eastern's Prehistoric Museum under the mentorship of Dr. Joshua Lively. As an intern, Michaela assisted with the Paleontology Hall tour design, updated the museaum's informational fossil brochures, prepared fossils for museum use, helped construct the archival jackets for fossils, and joined field expeditions for fossil collection.

Michaela gained a skillset in field techniques for fossil prospecting and quarry excavation, lab techniques for vertebrate fossil preparation, and museum collections inventorying.
