Admission Requirements

Students who have met the following requirements will be eligible for acceptance into the degree program.

  • A bachelor’s degree in a career and technical education or related program from an accredited institution.
  • A 3.0 or higher GPA on your last 60 semester or 90 quarter credits. Official transcripts from all institutions of higher education attended are required.
  • CTE M.Ed. applicants need to be engaged in or have experience teaching career and technical education subjects in formal or non-formal secondary or post-secondary (adult education) settings.
  • Three letters of recommendation. The applicant provides email addresses of three individuals during the online application process. USU will contact these individuals for their recommendation.
  • If you would like to begin the degree You may register for up to 12 credits of the degree courses, but will not be allowed to take any more courses after that until you are accepted into the program.

Program Requirements

Students will determine their interest areas and design a focused program of study that includes core courses in adult education, advanced teaching strategies, assessment and evaluation, reading and applying research, and program design.

This degree program requires 33 credits for completion; students should thoughtfully consider their area of emphasis and then along with their committee, select courses that reflect their emphasis area. Courses from other departments not listed above may be part of a program of study. This degree has been designed to be completed online, but with the approval of the advisory committee, students may take other online broadcast, or on campus courses.
