About This Minor

The English minor invites students to explore their interests in cultural studies, creative writing, professional writing, and literary studies.

Students in the minor choose from a wide range of engaging and rewarding courses spanning genres, forms, places, and periods. From poetry to film, fantasy to folklore, Shakespeare to Native American literature, there is something for everyone in English.

What You Will Learn

Through the English minor students gain confidence in reading, analyzing, and discussing multiple kinds of texts, including graphic novels, digital and multimodal writing, oral traditions, archival sources, and experimental fiction. English studies focus on critical thinking, creativity, and communication, skills that enhance student success across disciplines and careers.
