Piano Pedagogy - Minor

College of Arts & Sciences

About This Minor

The Minor in Piano Pedagogy is designed for pianists who wish to build strong musicianship skills while preparing for independent piano teaching in both private studios and group settings.

Through a balance of coursework and hands-on teaching experiences, the program provides practical tools for effective instruction and fosters professional readiness. By preparing well-rounded and capable piano teachers, the Piano Pedagogy Minor reflects USU’s ongoing commitment to excellence in music education.

There is no official audition process required to declare the Piano Pedagogy Minor, making the program accessible to students from a variety of musical backgrounds.

However, several of the required piano courses do require entrance exams to assess overall fluency, proficiency, and readiness to keep up with course requirements.
