Plant Identification and Applied Botany - UC

S.J. & Jessie E. Quinney College of Agriculture & Natural Resources

About This Certificate

This certificate will recognize a student’s preparation in wildland plant identification and the applied botany of non-cultivated plants.

The course list will require that students take courses from at least two different departments but is designed around courses that are parts of existing degree programs in BIOL, WILD, WEES, PSC, and ADVS.

What You Will Learn

This certificate will give students exposure to the Intermountain Herbarium on the USU campus, which curates over 290,000 specimens and is a regional resource and repository for plant identification, documentation, and study. The certificate better utilizes this key USU asset and organizes USU’s significant plant identification expertise to offer students an enhanced set of employment opportunities throughout Utah and beyond.
