Vehicle Reservations
The following vehicles are available for faculty, staff, and students associated with the USU Ecology Center to borrow for research, field work, and other university business.

Ecology Center vehicles are parked north of the Student Wellness Center and south of USU surplus.
Instructions
Before Your Trip
Please be sure your mandatory driver's training is up to date and that you have submitted a Travel Authorization (TA) which is required for most trips.
Please request a gas card pin from Motor Pool: (435) 797-3145 or fleet@usu.edu. Gas cards are for that particular vehicle only; please use it and not another form of payment to fill up the vehicle (unless you did not acquire a gas pin ahead of time). Pins are good for any vehicle in the USU fleet. Please fill up at the Motor Pool pumps when you are able to. Outside of those, you must use a gas station that accepts Fleet cards. Find a gas station.
A confirmation email will be sent to your email when keys are ready for pickup, along with a lockbox code. NR building hours are 7am to 7pm, Monday through Friday. You will need building prox card access if you plan to pick up keys after hours.
On Your Trip
Note odometer reading at the beginning of your trip. Make sure that the odometer reading you are recording is NOT a trip reading, but the total vehicle mileage. Please maintain the daily mileage log throughout the duration of your trip.If you need to park a vehicle at your residence overnight, your direct supervisor needs to send you an email approving it. Please cc daniel.carolan@usu.edu on that email so we can keep a record for USU Internal Audit.
Any accident, however minor, must be reported to local law enforcement. A USU vehicle accident report must be filed as soon as possible following the incident. If you need towing and are near Cache Valley, USU has a contracted price with Miller Autobody.
If the outside or inside of the vehicle became dirty during your trip, please wash and vacuum the vehicle so that it is returned in the same state as when it was picked up.
Fill up the gas tank before returning the vehicle. Gas cards are located in each vehicle and are to be used for that particular vehicle only. The Motor Pool pumps are open 24/7 and are typically cheaper than the gas stations in town.
Return the vehicle to the lot pictured above.
Promptly return keys and daily mileage log (linked in case you need extras) to the Ecology Center (NR 208). If it is after hours, there is a lockbox outside the Ecology Center that the keys and mileage log may be returned to.

As such, it is not available for use in the field, but it may be used for short-term rentals of a few days and only on paved roads and highways. Animals are not allowed in this vehicle.
