Crafts & Trades
The Crafts and Trades crews oversee the production and repair of numerous components of campus buildings, including carpet, plumbing, roofs, electrical systems, and so on. All trades shops function under the direction of the Building, Trades, & Projects Manager as well as that of their respective supervisors. This page briefly describes the function of each crew.
Structures Shop
The Structures Shop is responsible for:
- Carpentry: constructing and maintaining walls, floors, ceilings, doors, windows, cabinetry, and concrete work
- Roofing: all roofing systems found on campus, oversee all contract roofing projects
Lock Shop
The Lock Shop is responsible to design, install, and maintain campus security systems.
Physical Security Systems Shop
The Physical Security Systems Shop is responsible for:
- Access control
- Panic and intrusion systems
- Building security systems
Electrical Shop
The Electrical Shop is responsible for:
- Fire alarm systems
- Electrical systems
- Standby power generation
- 2-way radio communication
- Elevators
- Large venue audio operations
- ADA doors
Finishes Shop
The Finishes Shop is responsible for:
- Flooring: installation and maintenance of carpet, wood flooring, vinyl flooring, and specialty surfaces
- Painting: maintain wall surfaces in offices and campus buildings
- Upholstery: repairs on upholstered furniture
- Signage: a full-service sign shop offering a variety of services
Heavy Equipment Shop
The Heavy Equipment Shop is responsible for:
- Maintaining streets and parking lots
- Providing snow removal
- Providing excavation work
- Maintaining outdoor water distribution and storm water systems
