Aggie First Scholar Events
Come party with us!
Mentoring meals will be held on a monthly basis. Our on-campus, mentoring meals provide an opportunity for new and continuing students to connect, share experiences, and establish a learning community. On occasion, first-generation faculty and administrators will attend with mentor groups. These meals are sponsored by USU Dining and Pepsi.
Each month during fall and spring semesters, the AFS Speaker Series is available for all members of the USU first-generation college community. The Speaker Series is designed to give students additional exposure to opportunities at the university and cover relevant topics, such as:
- Resume Building and Career Workshops
- Community Engaged Learning
- Financing Your Education

Celebrations and Socials
AFS holds socials throughout fall and spring semesters. They are organized and planned by the students. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, socials will look different, and may not happen for the time being.
As a form form of providing opportunities to increase self-management and assess knowledge, AFS holds monthly PowerUps. During PowerUPs, students "Power Up" with members from other Utah State organizations as they present information on financial, academic, personal and social challenges.
Potential Within Seminars are monthly meetings that AFS hosts in order to provide an opportunity for students to share their stories and to learn from others. As they learn from one another, they begin to discover their potential within and discover how to help others know their potential within.
