On September 12, the Janet Quinney Lawson Institute for Land, Water, and Air hosted an ILWA Conversations event with Joel Ferry, executive director of the Utah Department of Natural Resources, and Brian Steed, Great Salt Lake Commissioner. The panel was held in the David B. Haight Center on the USU campus and was targeted toward students, but was open to faculty and any others interested.

The hour-long panel conversation primarily focused on how to decrease water consumption in residential and agriculture uses and discussed various farming methods and conservation strategies. Questions from the attendees emphasized the issues surrounding the conservation of the Great Salt Lake, as well as asking about helpful legislation, development, and how to deal with conflict.
