Meet our Student Leadership

My name is Becca Ivans, this year's ILWA student chapter president! I’m a master's student in anticipatory intelligence. I have admired ILWA’s work and mission for a long time, and I am so excited to now get to take part in it! I love getting outside as much as I can, and I love that USU’s proximity to so many natural wonders makes it easy to do so.

My name is Auden Smith (She/Her), and I am sooo excited to be volunteering with ILWA as this semester’s vice president! I am majoring in Environmental Studies and Agribusiness and am a sophomore here at USU! I love learning new things AND I love Utah! And obviously I love a good tree hug :) I feel so lucky to get the chance to take care of and advocate for Utah’s natural resources!

My name is Ruby Baker! I am ILWA’s Engagement and Professional Development Specialist. As a sophomore majoring in Conservation and Restoration Ecology with a minor in Environmental Planning, I greatly emphasize the relationship between human and environmental prosperity. ILWA gives students a direct look at how environmental issues move through the legislature here in Utah, and I love being part of that learning process. Outside of classes, you can usually find me with friends, hiking, riding horses, or playing piano. I am grateful to be able to volunteer my time with a group that prioritizes natural resources and wise management in the midst of a continuously growing world.

I’m Emily LaBonty, this semester’s club secretary/treasurer. I’m studying computer science with a minor in sociology. I love to read and spend time outdoors, especially in Utah’s state and national parks! I look forward to meeting everyone at our events and learning about Utah's environment from talented researchers and peers.
