The Judi Rangesan and Rangesan Narayanan travel grant is a $500 award stipend for a student to be used to present a scholarly paper or poster presentation at a conference, summit, forum, or other professional meeting. The presentation or paper should be one focused on economics or policies related to land, water, the environment, or outdoor recreation. Undergraduate students will be given preference in awarding the travel grant, but graduate students may also apply.
The fall travel grant application will be open from October 1 – November 15 to be used for travel during Spring semester.
The spring travel grant application will be open from February 1 – March 15 to be used during summer term or Fall semester.
Instructions
To apply for the grant, applicants should submit a proposal using the Qualtrics application form. The proposal must include the following items in Word or pdf format as well as a budget using the Excel template for this travel grant. All files uploaded to the application should include the applicant’s name as part of the file name.
- A one-paragraph summary of the research paper or poster presentation.
- A summary of the conference, summit, forum, or meeting where the scholarly paper or poster will be presented, including the location, date(s), time, and title of the event, along with the agenda if one has been published.
- A personal invitation from the event organizer to present, or an agenda of the conference, summit, forum, or meeting showing where the presentation is included, or a letter from a faculty mentor or advisor confirming the paper or poster presentation will be part of the event.
- The original scholarly paper or journal article or report that is the basis of the presentation.
- The budget template should be filled out and then saved as a Word or pdf file.
Applicants agree that, if awarded the grant, they will write a thank you letter to the donor Rangesan Narayanan. Information on writing the thank you letter will be provided in the grant award notification.
