Why did you choose this research project?

The rapid spread of herbicide-resistant kochia threatens agricultural productivity and sustainability in Utah. A comprehensive understanding of kochia resistance is essential to developing innovative, localized weed management strategies that reduce economic losses and environmental harm.

What motivates you to study your area of research?

I am motivated by the potential to develop innovative solutions that can address the growing challenge of kochia’s resistance to herbicides, as well as by the opportunity to fill a critical gap in knowledge about the factors driving herbicide resistance in Utah.

What do you want to do after you earn your degree?

Still figuring it out.

What advice would you give someone who is thinking about choosing your field of study?

Weed science requires curiosity and resilience. It is intriguing to explore the many different aspects of this field of study.
