What is the name of your research project?
Applying Forecasting and Foresight Methodologies for Futures Analysis of Utah's Environmental Challenges
Why did you choose this research project?
I care deeply about the long term health of Utah's beautiful environment and want to support the long-term success of any initiatives to help support it in any way that I can.
What motivates you to study your area of research?
Every day, with each new headline I read, it seems as though the world is becoming more complex. It is easy to throw our hands up and think "well, I can't do anything," but I refuse to subscribe to that mindset. Each of us can and must do something to secure a viable future for Utah.
What do you want to do after you earn your degree?
I want to attend law school and practice environmental law, while continuing to work with futures analysis.
What advice would you give someone who is thinking about choosing your field of study?
Absolutely nothing you do is a waste of time. Every experience you have had throughout your life has given you something, even if immaterial: knowledge, comfort, strength, etc. Your experiences are an asset. Use them, particularly in this field of study. The "right" answer is rarely in a predictable place.
