Visit a pledge booth across the state on this day to learn how to respond to a survivor when they disclose their experience to you. Take the pledge to start by believing; making a personal commitment to respond to a survivor with belief and empathy, support that survivor on their road to justice and healing, and to end the silence and stop the cycle of violence within our communities. You can also take the pledge online throughout the month at startbybelieving.usu.edu and be sure to use the campaign hashtag #USUbelieves so we can track the number of pledges USU takes.
On the Logan Campus, join us from 4 pm to 6 pm at the Block A on the northeast side of the quad to celebrate Start by Believing Day as a Cache Valley community. Take Back the Night represents the earliest worldwide stand against sexual violence. This year SAAVI will host a Take Back the Night Community March, bringing together survivors of the Cache Valley and university community. This event is a space for survivors of every sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, race, color, national origin, disability, and religion to come together as one and take back their narrative through a march in downtown Logan.

Time: 11 AM - 1 PM
Location: TSC Plaza
In 1992, a sexual assault conviction was overturned in Rome, Italy by the Italian High Court because the victim had been wearing tight jeans. The court argued that because her jeans were tight she would have had to assist him in removing them, therefore giving him consent.
Enraged by the verdict, the women in the Italian Parliament protested by wearing jeans on the steps of the Supreme Court.
Over the years wearing jeans on this anniversary has become an international symbol of protest against erroneous and destructive attitudes about sexual violence.
Join in solidarity by wearing jeans on Wednesday, April 26th. Stop by our Denim Day barbecue for photo booth opportunities and to build community.
