Aggie Advantage Grant Continues to Support College Access at Utah State University

Utah State University is reaffirming its commitment to making higher education accessible and affordable for all students with the continuation of the Aggie Advantage Grant for Fall 2026. This initiative rewards new incoming students who take the crucial step of submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA.

Beginning Fall 2026, USU will use the Student Aid Index (SAI) — a metric introduced by the U.S. Department of Education — to determine eligibility for the grant. All incoming students who complete their FAFSA by the Feb. 1, 2026 deadline will automatically receive a $500 Aggie Advantage Grant, regardless of their eligibility for federal aid. Those with an SAI of 8,000 or less will receive an additional $500 grant, for a total award of $1000.

To receive the Aggie Advantage Grant, students must:

  • Complete the 2026-27 FAFSA by Feb. 1, 2026.
  • Enroll in at least one credit by May 1, 2026.
  • Reach full-time enrollment status by 3rd week of Fall 2026 semester.

“Utah State University remains deeply committed to helping students access higher education,” said Craig Whyte, executive director of Student Financial Support. “Submitting the FAFSA is one of the most important steps students can take to unlock financial resources, and we want to reward that effort.”

The Aggie Advantage Grant is part of USU’s broader strategy to reduce financial barriers and encourage students to explore every available resource to help pay for college. From federal aid and scholarships to state grants and institutional support, USU encourages students to be proactive in seeking financial assistance.

The 2026-2027 FAFSA opens Oct. 1, 2025. Students can learn more on the Aggie Advantage website.
