Annual Report Highlights Growth in Support and Prevention from USU Civil Rights and Title IX Office

Utah State University’s Civil Rights and Title IX Office has released its 2024–25 Annual Report, highlighting continued growth in support services and prevention education.

The office staff provided hundreds of individualized safety assessments and coordinated supportive measures across all USU campuses. Notably, they provided pregnancy accommodations for 97 students, reflecting a 90 percent increase from last year.

Prevention and education efforts also expanded. Nearly 16,000 students and employees attended live trainings, while another 24,000 completed online modules. The office also hosted dozens of outreach events statewide to make resources more visible and accessible.

The office received 1,013 unique cases in the past year. Notably, 10.7 percent of these cases were allegations of misconduct that occurred prior to an individual’s participation in a USU employment or education program or activity. Executive Director Matthew Pinner said, “reporting cases that occurred before engaging with USU highlights a lesser-known type of support that our office provides to our campus community.”

The office also reported that all the provisions of the 2020 Settlement Agreement between USU and the DOJ have been fulfilled. “Finalizing this agreement demonstrates the university’s commitment to fostering a safe and respectful environment and underscores the accountability built into its policies and practices,” Pinner said.

The report serves as a summary of the office’s progress during the past year and its ongoing commitment to supporting the USU community.

The full report is available on the Civil Rights and Title IX Office website.
