LOGAN — Emmy Award-winning production designer and creative director Patrick Larsen, alumnus of the Department of Theatre Arts in the Caine College of the Arts (CCA), will return to USU for the CCA Dean’s Convocation, giving a talk entitled “The Magical Science of Creativity.”

The convocation, which starts 5 p.m. on Sept. 15 in USU’s Russell/Wanlass Performance Hall, is the CCA’s formal welcome to all students and provides an opportunity to meet faculty, staff, and administration from the college.

CCA Interim Dean Dr. Nicholas Morrison invites all students, community members and colleagues to join him at this special event.

“Our mission of service through the practice, study, and teaching of the arts has never been more important,” Dr. Morrison said. “The college is grateful to former Dean Rachel Nardo for her role in bringing Patrick to Utah State for this year’s convocation.”

Larsen has been designing sets and thematic environments for live audiences around the world for almost 20 years. In addition to his extensive theater credits, he has created work for many of the top international entertainment brands, including Warner Brothers, Universal Studios, Puy Du Fou, BBC Sports, Wimbledon, the Vancouver and Rio Olympic Games, and Dubai Expo 2020.

Patrick holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from USU and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of California San Diego.

The convocation is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the CCA Box Office, located in room L101 of the Chase Fine Arts Center on USU’s campus, call 435-797-8022, or go online to cca.usu.edu.
