LOGAN, Utah – Utah State University Choirs presents inspiring and entertaining choral music for the fall season in their upcoming concert, “Autumn Voices.” The concert will be at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 10 in the Daryl Chase Fine Arts Center’s Daines Concert Hall.
“Autumn Voices” promises an engaging blend of musical themes that capture the essence of Autumn.
“I am excited about the opening set,” said Director of Choral Activities Cory Evans. “It beautifully transitions from the gentle warmth of Nat King Cole's ‘Tis Autumn’ to the invigorating energy of Katerina Gimon’s ‘FIRE’ as a tribute to the season.”
Joining forces, the combined choirs will present an array of performances that highlight their talents and musical versatility.
The USU Sapphire Singers will feature works by Mark Hayes and Faith Zimmer and perform the rousing Flamenco-inspired “El Vito” by Joni Jensen.
The USU Chorale will perform music by Philip Stopford and Anthony Trecek-King and offer a captivating rendition of Ola Gjeilo's stunning “Ubi Caritas,” with Jessie Bladen's imaginative piano improvisations, along with a beautiful setting of Matthew Nielsen's “Pure Imagination.”
The USU Chamber Singers will present American folk songs, fresh jazz arrangements, and a selection of movements from the haunting “Autumn Landscapes” by Estonian composer Veljo Tormis.
“Students will hear outstanding and talented singers from USU and will experience a show that appeals to the ears and to the eyes with lots of visual imagery,” Evans said. “These student musicians are incredible.”
Tickets can be purchased online or at the box office in the Daryl Chase Fine Arts Center. Tickets are $10 for adult admission and free for USU students and CCA faculty.
