Utah State University, in partnership with CAPSA, will host the fourth annual Northern Utah Conference to End Violence on June 4 at the Riverwoods Conference Center in Logan. Founded in 2022, the conference serves as a central event for professionals and community members committed to preventing domestic and sexual violence.

Continuing the theme “A Call for Collaborative Leadership,” this year’s conference highlights the importance of cross-sector partnerships in preventing violence and supporting survivors. Research shows that survivors experience the best outcomes when law enforcement, advocates and other professionals work together to address relationship and sexual violence.

Renowned speaker and retired law enforcement leader Mark Wynn will deliver the opening keynote address, “This is Where I Learned Not to Sleep — Quest for Justice, Journey Towards Healing.” A retired lieutenant from the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department, Wynn will explore the long-term effects of childhood exposure to family violence and strategies for breaking the cycle of abuse.

Closing the event, Danielle Leukam — advocate, author and survivor — will share her powerful journey from victim to survivor, emphasizing the importance of breaking the silence surrounding sexual assault and inspiring action to support survivors.

In addition to keynote speakers, the conference will feature specialized breakout sessions addressing critical issues in violence prevention, including the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives crisis, contemporary trends in digital stalking and cybercrimes and strategies to bridge service gaps for victims and survivors.

Registration is now open. General attendance is $30, while USU attendees can register at no cost. The additional fee for attendees earning NASW CEUs is $10. The conference may fulfill Utah’s POST annual in-service training requirements, subject to approval by the respective law enforcement agency.
