Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco Economist Speaks At USU Oct. 23

Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco economist Yelena F. Takhtamanova will speak at Utah State University Friday, Oct. 23, at 7:30 a.m. in the Evan N. Stevenson Ballroom on the university campus. Takhtamanova speaks on “An Economic Outlook for the Western United States.” The lecture is free and open to the public.
 
The lecture is hosted by the Utah State University Foundation and the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business.
 
Takhtamanova joined the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco in 2005. As an economist, her research, analysis and outreach activities support both the economic research and public information departments. Takhtamanova is an expert in macroeconomics, monetary economics and international economics.  She has written papers on the effect of exchange rate changes on inflation (exchange rate pass-through) in OECD countries, inflation-output tradeoff (the Phillips curve) in G7 countries and the link between changes in household wealth and consumption (the wealth effect) in select EU countries.
 
Takhtamanova earned bachelor’s in economics from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland and her master’s and doctorate in economics from the Johns Hopkins University. Prior to joining the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, she was an assistant professor at California State University, Sacramento. She also lectured on macroeconomics and international monetary economics at the Johns Hopkins University.
