All Aggies are invited to enjoy USU Science Week activities, including virtual networking, games and fun, Nov. 2-7.
The Utah State University community is invited to enjoy brain-energizing fun as USU’s College of Science Student Council hosts ‘Science Week’ Nov. 2-7.
“Our theme for the week is ‘In This Together,’” says Noah Braeger, USUSA College of Science Senator. “In the midst of a very unusual year with unexpected challenges, we invite all Aggies throughout campus and the state to join us in a week of virtual networking and fun.”
The week’s theme reflects the interdisciplinary nature of science and the diverse disciplines represented in USU’s College of Science, Braeger says, as well as Aggies “pulling together” in an extraordinary semester.
“We’ve had to be resilient, which Aggies do well,” Braeger says. “But it’s time to have some fun, too.”
All are invited to Science Week activities, which include:
Monday, Nov. 2
All USU undergraduates are invited to participate in a virtual Faculty Panel with information about getting involved in research and preparing for graduate school. The gathering takes place Monday, Nov. 2, at 6 p.m. on Zoom. Participants can access the event from the Science Week website.
Tuesday, Nov. 3
From noon-2 p.m., everyone in the USU community is invited to the east end of the USU Quad for S’mores with Science, to enjoy safely distanced fellowship and a warm and gooey treat.
Wednesday, Nov. 4
From noon-3 p.m., USU students are invited to Grab-a-Mug-o-Science, as Science Council members hand out free ceramic Science mugs, while supplies last, on the Taggart Student Center patio.
Thursday, Nov. 5
Via Zoom, all USU students are invited to compete in the Science Trivia Bowl at 5:30 pm. To log on, visit the Science Week website.
Saturday, Nov. 7
Warm up your fingers and prepare for the Science Week Videogame Tournament from 6-9 p.m. on the third floor of the Anderson Engineering Building. Compete for prizes during a tournament featuring Rocket League and Super Smash Bros. To meet safety requirements, all participants must pre-register at the event website.
For more information about USU Science Week, visit the website and follow the USU College of Science on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
USU’s College of Science includes the academic departments of biology, chemistry and biochemistry, computer science, mathematics and statistics, geology and physics.
Theme for USU Science Week 2020 is 'In This Together,' reflecting the diverse disciplines represented in the College of Science. It’s also a nod to an unusual semester marked by Aggie resilience.
