Ken Brewer Recognized on National News

Ken Brewer’s distinguished career in the department of English at Utah State University has long been recognized. His talent as a writer received state-wide recognition when Gov. Mike Leavitt named him Utah’s poet laureate in January 2003.

Of late, Brewer has received recognition of another sort; his openness and honesty in sharing the challenges of coping with terminal illness. He is sharing his experience through his poetry.

CBS News took note, and broadcast a profile on Brewer in its Dec. 18 national edition of the evening news. A transcript of that broadcast by CBS correspondent Lee Cowan is available online.

The news crew visited Brewer, along with his wife, Bobbie Stearman, at their home in Providence to film the inspiring profile.
