Know Before You Go: Avalanche Presentation Returns Dec. 4

Know Before You Go returns as part of Utah Avalanche Awareness Week.

By Baily Kruzan |

With the onset of winter weather and part of Utah Avalanche Awareness Week, Utah State University’s Outdoor Programs and the Utah Avalanche Center are hosting a free “Know Before You Go” avalanche awareness presentation. It’ll be at the Aggie Recreation Center on at 7 p.m. Dec. 4 and is open to students, faculty, staff and community members.

UAC staff will be at the presentation to answer questions and share helpful information that could help outdoor enthusiasts avoid avalanche danger and enjoy the winter wonderland of Utah’s mountains. The presentation doesn’t include formulas to memorize or warnings to stay out of the mountains, but instead introduces people to fundamentals of how avalanches happen and how to have fun in the mountains while avoiding them.

This presentation is supported by several local community organizations, some of which will be there to provide information and answer questions. For more information about this event, contact Greg Davis at USU Outdoor Programs: greg.j.davis@usu.edu. For more information on the Know Before You Go program, visit www.kbyg.org.
