Open House Honors Vice President Brent Miller
On open house reception honors Utah State University’s Vice President for Research Brent C. Miller as he leaves that role and prepares for a sabbatical leave. Miller has headed USU’s Research Office since 2000 and is currently the longest serving vice president at the university.
Faculty, staff, students and community members are invited to the reception Wednesday, June 22, 3-5 p.m., at the David B. Haight Alumni Center on the USU campus.
During Miller’s 11 years at the helm, USU’s Research office marked a number of significant accomplishments, including record externally funded research awards, the expansion of Innovation Campus and the launch of the Utah Science and Technology Research initiative, promoting economic development and ensuring research integrity. Student research involvement at USU has grown substantially as well. Miller steps down July 1.
Following his one-year sabbatical leave, Miller will return to the USU faculty in the Department of Family, Consumer and Human Development.
Mark McLellan, administrator at the University of Florida, joins USU July 1, assuming a joint position as vice president for research and dean of graduate studies.
