President Albrecht Congratulates Seely-Hinckley Scholars — Thanks Foundation
Utah State University President Stan Albrecht welcomed guests, student scholarship recipients, family and representatives of the Seely-Hinckley Scholarship Fund during an award luncheon that honored the 2004-05 Seely-Hinckley Scholars.
“It is on days like this that we remember what a university is all about,” President Albrecht said to the gathering. “Today, we have the opportunity to recognize some of our best and brightest and to say thank you to the dedication and contributions of the Seely and Hinckley families who established this scholarship program.”
This marks the 20th year since the Seely-Hinckley Scholarship Program was established.
“Since that time, millions of dollars have come to Utah State University thanks to this program,” Albrecht said. “You, the students of the 2004-05 class of Seely-Hinckley Scholars, reflect the donors’ belief in higher education. The importance of this scholarship cannot be denied.
“This scholarship will help launch the lives of these bright, young people. Thank you to all who are involved in this endeavor.”
The Seely-Hinckley Scholarship Fund at Utah State University was initiated in 1985 by the family of Robert H. Hinckley and of John H. Seely. Recipients are chosen annually from every college within the university. The annual scholarships are awarded to outstanding students majoring in almost any field offered by the university, four within each college and the School of Graduate Studies. The fund provides assistance to students having superior attainments who otherwise would be unable to attend, or who would be delayed in attending the university.
The awards honor two outstanding Utah men, both pioneers of their time.
The following students are this year’s Seely-Hinckley Scholars:
Debra Christofferson, Ashley L. Slane, Jeffrey Wayne Smart, Lori Bacon, Mauri Love, Roger Mayo, Derek Theurer, Jamie Hammons Owen, Nancy Pence, Emily Tingey, Michael R.
