USU-Blanding Hires Nursing Coordinator to Bolster Program

Susan Dewar has joined USU-Blanding as the nursing coordinator.

Susan Dewar officially became the nursing coordinator at Utah State University-Blanding on August 1. Dewar has more than 10 years of teaching experience. She has taught in every level of nursing education and spent one year as a dean of an associate degree in nursing program.

“I feel honored to help provide students at USU-Blanding the opportunity to start nursing careers,” said Dewar. “USU offers students a lot of support and resources, which is a major reason so many have graduated and started successful careers. I hope to add to this program and help mentor great future nurses.”

Dewar core responsibilities include teaching classroom and lab courses, mentoring nursing students, and overseeing the coordination of USU-Blanding’s nursing program. She plans on building on the program’s past successes by expanding the program to more students and making it more accessible.

Outside of her professional life, Dewar spends much of her time as a writer, birder, piano player, and West African drum player with her husband. One of the reasons she was drawn to USU-Blanding was Utah’s beautiful landscape.
