USU's Commercial Enterprises Names New Research Development Director

Utah State University Commercial Enterprises has named David M. Christensen as a research development director.

Christensen will work with Utah Science Technology and Research (USTAR) professors and affiliates to develop their research funding portfolios. He brings more than 10 years of teaching and academic experience to the CE team.

“To be successful, those who pursue research funding cannot be reactive; rather, it requires deliberate decisions, discipline, dedication to the team, dogged attention to detail and research and proposal savvy,” said Christensen. “I approach each potential research project, each collaboration, each funding opportunity announcement and each proposal from a strategic and rhetorical perspective.”

Christensen’s duties include facilitating research development with 15 USTAR endowed professors/researchers at USU, as well as 72 USTAR affiliate faculty for programs ranging from single investigator to multi-institution. Christensen also researches funding opportunities, provides strategic proposal development consultation, helps faculty develop funding portfolios, writes proposal content and develops and maintains relationships with funding agencies as well as academic and industry collaborators.
