USU Kicks-Off New Tradition with Welcome Home, Aggies Event
LOGAN, Utah — Utah State University will kick off a new campus tradition this month with its first Welcome Home, Aggies move-in event as new students and their families arrive on campus.
The event will be held Saturday, Aug. 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., as new students move into their residence halls. Throughout the day, faculty and staff volunteers stationed across campus will help unload belongings, distribute and collect move-in carts, provide directions and answer questions.
USU is inviting faculty and staff from across the university to volunteer. Shifts are available in one-hour increments throughout the day, and hourly employees are asked to check with their supervisor before signing up. As a thank-you, all volunteers will receive a T-shirt, along with water and snacks during their shift.
"There's nothing quite like the excitement of move-in day, and together we can help every new Aggie feel at home from the moment they arrive," said Kris Winter, vice president for Student Success. "We hope you'll join us in welcoming new members of our Aggie family to campus and making the first Welcome Home, Aggies event a tradition to remember."
Volunteers may talk with students about their role on campus if asked, but recruitment, solicitation and advertising are not permitted during the event. Other opportunities to promote clubs, jobs and activities to students will be available during Day on the Quad.
To sign up, complete the short sign-up survey. For questions, or to make changes to a shift after signing up, please contact Student Success at (435) 797-1712.
