Utah State University Announces Provost Finalists
Utah State University announced the names of the three finalists for the position of provost. Each candidate will visit the campus to interview with the university provost search committee and to give a public presentation.
The candidates selected from a national pool of applicants are Raymond Thomas Coward, Belinda R. McCarthy and Ovid A. Plumb.
"The finalists are a very qualified and outstanding group selected from a tremendous pool of national applicants," said Scott Hinton, dean of USU's college of engineering and chair of the provost search committee.
Plumb is the dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Wyoming. He was previously a professor and chair of the department of mechanical and materials engineering at Washington State University. Plumb will visit campus and interview with the search committee on Sept. 8. The public is invited to a presentation from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the Eccles Conference Center Auditorium.

Coward is dean of the College of Health and Human Development at Pennsylvania State University. Prior to his position at Penn State, he served as the dean of the School of Health and Human Services at the University of New Hampshire. Coward will visit campus on Sept. 20 and interview with the search committee. The public is invited to a presentation from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the Eccles Science Learning Center, room 130.

McCarthy is the dean of the College of Health and Public Affairs at the University of Central Florida. She was previously the associate dean of the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. McCarthy will interview with the search committee and visit campus on Sept. 28. The public is invited to a presentation from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the Eccles Science Learning Center, room 130.
