Utah State University Holds Memorial Service

Utah State University will hold a memorial service Monday, Nov. 7, at 1:30 p.m. for the eight students and an instructor killed in a van accident Sept. 26 near Tremonton, Utah. All classes and non-essential offices will be suspended from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

The special service is in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. Students, faculty, staff and community members are invited. Those attending are strongly encouraged to arrive early to ensure that everyone is seated prior to the start of the service. Overflow seating will be available in the Taggart Student Center Ballroom and the Kent Concert Hall in the Chase Fine Arts Center. The service will also be streamed online at www.usu.edu.

"We want all of you who have been touched by this tragedy to feel welcome to participate," said USU President Stan Albrecht. "We wish to join together one last time as a university community to honor the remarkable men whose lives were so tragically cut short and to express our love and support to their families and friends."

The hour-long service will include remarks from Albrecht and Provost Noelle Cockett. Also speaking will be Elder L. Tom Perry of the Quorum of Twelve, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. All of the victims of the accident were members of the LDS church. Music will be by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir with prelude and postlude music played by the Tabernacle Choir organist.

Parking is available near the stadium, and shuttle service will be provided.
