Utah State University Launches First Phase of OneUSU CRM With Salesforce

LOGAN, Utah — Utah State University has launched Phase 1 of OneUSU CRM, a new constituent relationship management (CRM) system powered by Salesforce, marking a major step in modernizing student recruitment and engagement.

This first phase introduced two core tools: Salesforce Marketing Cloud, which delivers targeted, branded undergraduate enrollment communications, and Blackthorn Events, a separate platform integrated with Salesforce that streamlines recruitment event registration and tracking. Together, these systems will power faster, more personalized outreach, quicker event sign-ups and consistent Aggie branding across every touchpoint for Recruitment and Admissions.

USU’s Central IT team is also building integrations with the Student Information System to ensure data accuracy and prepare for Phase 2 — the January 2026 launch of the Learner Portal. The portal will let prospective students apply, track applications, receive decisions and respond to offers, creating a new application experience.

“This is a big step in unifying how we communicate with prospective students,” said Ian Anderson, executive director of enrollment strategy & innovation. “We’ll be more strategic, more consistent and better able to measure what works.”

The system consolidates multiple tools into a single platform, giving staff a central place to manage outreach and students a smoother experience.

“Today’s students expect genuinely personalized experiences, and Salesforce allows us to deliver exactly that,” said Lindsay Farnworth, director of enrollment systems & data.

“This launch is the beginning of a larger transformation in how we engage with students,” said Ryan Jensen, director of enrollment marketing. “They’ll get the information they need when they need it, and we’ll have a clearer view of their journey so we can take more meaningful action.”

While the Division of Strategic Enrollment Management is the first to benefit, OneUSU CRM will expand across campus to connect departments like Orientation, Advising, Financial Aid, and University Advancement. Work on upcoming phases is already underway, with the University Advancement implementation starting ahead of schedule. These future phases will continue to build a connected campus where data flows seamlessly, processes align and teams collaborate more effectively.

OneUSU CRM will create shared visibility into the student journey and lay the groundwork for better collaboration and stronger connections,” said Vice President of Strategic Enrollment Management Katie Jo North.
