Winners of USU's 2007 Creative Writing Contest Named

Winners of the 2007 Utah State University Creative Writing Contest have been announced. The contest is administered by USU’s Department of English.

The undergraduate winners are as follows:
 
Poetry: Taylor B. Christensen, First Place; Anthony Lang, Second Place and Nathaniel Hardman, Third Place.
 
Short Fiction: Benny B. Nyikos, First Place; Angeline Olschewski, Second Place and Lyndi Larson, Third Place.
 
Creative Non-fiction: Faye F. Mays, First Place; Jacob F. Roecker, Second Place and Elise Doney, Third Place.
 
The graduate winners are as follows:
 
Poetry: Chelsi Linderman, First Place; Emily Gilliland, Second Place and Samantha S. Robinson, Third Place.
 
Short Fiction: Kacy Lundstrom, First Place and Robert Watkins, Second Place.
 
Creative Non-fiction: Samantha S. Robinson, First Place; Kacy Lundstrom, Second Place and Chelsi Linderman, Third Place.
 
This year, there were also three outstanding works of photography included for honorable mention by Nasser Elsamadisy, Ashley Andersen and Jackie H. Harris.
 
“This creative writing competition presents an opportunity for all students at Utah State — not just English majors — to showcase their creative writing accomplishments,” said contest director Anne Shifrer.
 
Shifrer also noted that for several years, students representing all colleges at Utah State have submitted entries.
 
Winning submissions can be seen and read in the annual CWC publication, Scribendi, and on the Department of English Web site.
