Women Dig History

Long before Indiana Jones, women scientists were playing a pioneering role in major archeological excavations, says USU historian Frances Titchener. In the 19th century, Jane Dieulafoy helped excavate the royal palace of Xerxes in present-day Iran and Amelia Blanford Edwards founded the first academic chair of Egyptology in London.

For more information, contact Frances B. Titchener, professor, History Department, College of HASS, Utah State University, 435-797-1298. Dr. Titchener presents the lecture, “Women Who Dug (Up) History,” Tuesday, Feb. 28, from 4-6 p.m. at USU’s Haight Alumni Center in celebration of Women’s History Month.
