One of the founding members in 1989 of what is now known as the Utah NASA Space Grant Consortium, Utah State University — in conjunction with the Space Dynamics Laboratory — is one of the nation’s premier space-grant universities. From growing crops in space to protecting our planet from near-Earth objects to groundbreaking black hole and satellite research, the Spring 2025 issue of the Utah State Magazine highlighted just a fraction of the work being done. Along with the in-depth articles, the design team and photographer crafted unique imagery to complement the stories. The cover was especially unique, featuring an illustration of a spaceship and the magazine’s first foray into augmented reality. Upon scanning a code, the image came to life and flew off the page.
The Utah State Magazine is produced three times each year — fall, winter, and spring — with each magazine receiving a 50,000-copy run. Along with the print product, an email with the digital edition is sent out to more than 200,000 Utah State alumni. The content from each issue is also uploaded online at utahstatemagazine.usu.edu. If you do not receive a printed copy of the magazine and would like to, you can request to be added to the mailing list.
