At Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) West Jordan, GEAR UP students were given a tour of potential education options in the Health field, and learned more about the opportunities available to them as prospective SLCC students.

On November 6, GEAR UP students explored exciting career and education pathways with a visit to Salt Lake Community College’s (SLCC) West Jordan Campus. The group of 40 students toured the Health Sciences Building, attended a resource fair, and enjoyed a lunch provided by GEAR UP.
During the tour, students explored the various Health Science programs offered through SLCC, such as nursing, dental hygiene, mortuary science, radiologic technology, and physical therapist assisting. SLCC faculty showed students the labs and classrooms while they answered questions about program details. Highlights included the radiologic technology lab with x-ray equipment and mannequins, the OB Room with a mannequin that can stimulate childbirth, and the Physical Therapy pool with observation windows for underwater exercises.
This immersive experience offered students a closer look at healthcare education at SLCC, inspiring interest in future career paths. The day provided valuable guidance as well as chances to socialize and connect with peers and advisors.
