American Preparatory Academy Celebrates Seniors With Tacos
The smells of sizzling meats, chopped cilantro, fresh limes, and happy seniors filled the back common area of American Preparatory Academy’s West Valley II campus for a decision day celebration.

With victory comes rewards, and with this victory came tacos! GEAR UP seniors from American Preparatory Academy (APA) worked hard to prepare for their lives after high school, readying themselves for college and post-graduation careers. To celebrate their hard work, APA and USU STARS GEAR UP prepared an event known as decision day, complete with deliciously prepared tacos!
“The seniors chose this event for their celebration,” said Heidi Sanders, the APA GEAR UP site coordinator. “It’s rewarding to be able to celebrate them,” she said.
APA teachers and GEAR UP staff prepped and served tacos to 75 APA seniors to honor their accomplishments and recognize their dedication to make post high school plans.
“I’m really proud of all their hard work and resilience they have to get this far,” Sanders said.
All seniors, except for an IEP exception, have been accepted to at least one college or university.
