Bolder Way Forward for Utah

Daggett County

BWF logo

Daggett County is a county in the northeastern corner of the U.S. state of Utah with approximately 950 residents, making it the least populous county in Utah. Its beautiful terrain brings many visitors there each year. Since grassroots is key to long-term societal change in the Bolder Way Forward Framework, partnering with Duchesne and Uintah counties, Daggett residents strive to bring the BWF message to every city, town, business, neighborhood, and family within the region. Since the “whole is greater than the sum of the parts,” the regional Uintah Basin Coalition looks at who is currently doing the work in each spoke, or focus area, and what programs and efforts already support women and families in the tri-county area. By lifting women and girls in our county, we lift all residents.

What Can I Do?

In 2024, Daggett County Leaders gathered to discuss how to strengthen the impact of girls and women locally – read details here. Highlights included:

  • Raising awareness of opportunities for careers and secondary education paths for middle school and high school girls.
  • Openly discuss the negative impact of substance use and abuse among teens in the community, educating parents and students alike.
  • Recognize the importance of parent’s engagement in sex education at home.
  • Find ways to reduce stigma and support survivors of sexual assault.
  • Increase the number of women serving in key decision-making positions.

When we listen and respond to concerns regarding the needs of girls and women in Daggett County, we will be better able to change harmful or ineffective policies and programs, continue effective action, support effective leaders, identify and solve local problems, and create responsive initiatives.
