Piute County
Named after the Paiute tribe of Native Americans, Piute County is unique as one of the smallest counties in the state, both in terms of population and area. With a population of approximately 1,550, Piute County is a historic, rural area known for its mining boomtowns, the scenic Tushar Mountains, and high-altitude adventures like fishing and ATV trails. Because grassroots is key to long-term societal change in the Bolder Way Forward (BWF) Framework, the Piute County Coalition leaders bring the BWF message to every city, town, business, neighborhood, and family. The County Coalition is part of the BWF Six County Regional Coalition including Juab, Millard, Piute, Sanpete, Sevier, and Wayne Counties which together amplify the efforts in the region. Since the “whole is greater than the sum of the parts,” we look at individuals and organizations currently doing the work in each spoke, or focus area, and elevate existing efforts. By lifting women and girls, we lift all residents.
