November 2020 Newsletter

Colleagues,

We, at the Utah Women & Leadership Project (UWLP), have a number of announcements for November:

First, we are pleased to announce the release of a new research and policy brief titled “Women Leaders in Utah Government – Their Paths to Power.” Thanks to Dr. April Townsend who was the lead researcher on this study. The brief provides the results of an in-depth qualitative study with over 400 female participants who shared their insights on strategies, opportunities, and challenges in advancing their careers in Utah governmental settings.

Second, we have two free virtual events coming up in November (RSVP online) that are sponsored by the Huntsman School of Business and the Utah Education Network (UEN):

Third, we have a couple of resources to highlight this month: 1) check out the new Zoom video from our recent event “Utah Women in 2020: Challenges, Opportunities, and Next Steps”; and 2) see our Curriculum & Lesson Plan webpage for curriculum and ideas on how to teach content that can strengthen the impact of Utah girls and women.

Fourth, we would like to thank three of our current partners for their engagement and support for our mission and work: 1) The Women’s Business Center of Utah has been a critical partner with their focus on helping women start and grow businesses; 2) The Utah Division of Multicultural Affairs has partnered to create resources that support the work of strengthening girls and women of color; and 3) Method Communications for their support through the fabulous pro bono work of our Ambassador Josh Bird on UWLP media. We have gotten more media/press with his help than ever before!

Finally, check out the following editorials and articles from October:

Join us on the UWLP social media platforms: LinkedInFacebookTwitterInstagram, and YouTube. See the community calendar as well. Email uwlp@usu.edu to let us know you want to receive these updates to your own inbox if you received a forwarded email.

Stay safe and healthy this month!

Susan
