July 2024 Newsletter: A Bolder Way Forward

A Bolder Way Forward Advocates,

We have a few announcements in this month’s A Bolder Way Forward (BWF) newsletter:

First, the recording of our 2nd Annual BWF Summit opening session is now available online! We hope that you will view and share this with others.

Second, new resources include:

• Research: “Unpaid Care Work Among Utah Women: A 2024 Update”
• Idea Sheets: Sanpete County and Wayne County
• Podcasts – Spokes: Sexual Harassment & Gender-Based Discrimination and Higher Education Attainment
• Guides: BWF and Living Room Conversations have partnered to create a series of Conversation Guides for spoke and impact team areas. These guides offer a simple, sociable, and structured way to practice communicating across differences while building understanding and relationships (see overview). Anyone can use these to host engaging conversations with small groups.

Third, below is an update on a few things happening within the spokes, impact teams, and county coalitions:

• Spokes have created Data Visualizations for most goals. These interactive dashboards are tracking tools to show the current status for women in key areas and the bold change that BWF is looking to make by 2030.
• Short videos are being recorded by spokes this month to share quick summaries of data and key narratives. Each spoke is preparing 3 “calls to action” that will provide specific and immediate steps that can be taken to move the needle in their area.
• Impact Teams are recruiting additional members to identify an impact team representative for each spoke. These representatives will share key perspectives from their “lens” within the spoke focus area.
• County Coalitions are laying the groundwork in each county by finalizing BWF County Co-leads, recruiting Executive Leadership Team (ELT) members, identifying County Spoke Reps, collaborating with other counties, and spreading the word about this movement across the state. Fourth, visit the BWF Events page to view upcoming events from BWF spokes and partners. Check out the UWLP community calendar for all events in Utah for girls and women.
