December 2021 Newsletter

Colleagues,

I have a number of Utah Women & Leadership Project (UWLP) announcements for December:

First, we are pleased to announce the release of a new white paper titled “Women’s Equality in Utah: Why Utah Is Ranked as the Worst State, and What Can Be Done.” This report was commissioned by Zions Bank and co-authored by Dr. Greg Madsen. We invite you to join us for the Facebook Live event this morning for the release of this report from 8:00-8:40am at the following link: https://www.facebook.com/ZionsBank/

Second, we have four free events coming up (RSVP online) sponsored by the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business, USU Extension, and the Utah Education Network (UEN):

  1. Childcare Symposium: Practices, Policies, and Strategies to Move Utah Forward (Jan. 11, 1:00-3:00pm; Virtual)
  2. Salary Negotiation for Women: The Latest Research & Cutting-Edge Best Practices (Global Experts; Jan. 25, Noon-1:15pm; Virtual)
  3. Relaunching Your Career: Tools & Strategies for Women Returning to the Workforce (Feb. 10, Noon-1:15pm; Virtual)
  4. Conflict Management for Women: Skills, Strategies, and Solutions (Workshop; Mar. 1, Noon-1:30pm; Virtual)

Third, in partnership with Utah Public Radio, we have released a new podcast titled “Substance Use Disorders Among Utah Women.” In November of 2018, we published a research snapshot on this topic and, even though it is a few years old, it is such an important topic that we want to discuss some of the highlights in this podcast episode. I’m joined by Robbyn Scribner, lead researcher on the report.

Fourth, we have several resources to highlight this month:

Finally, check out the following articles from the last month:

Join us on the UWLP social media platforms: LinkedInFacebookTwitterInstagram, and YouTube. See the community calendar as well. Email uwlp@usu.edu to let us know you want to receive these updates to your own inbox if you received a forwarded email.

Happy Holidays!
