Colleagues,

I have a number of Utah Women & Leadership Project (UWLP) announcements for July:

First, we are pleased to announce the release of a new research snapshot titled “The Status of Utah American Indian Women” (with Dr. Tasha Toy and Marin Christensen), along with one we released a few weeks ago titled “The Status of Utah Hispanic or Latina Women” (with Dr. Jessica C. Hill and Marin Christensen). See the acknowledgements for the many other people who advised, reviewed, and assisted with these reports. In addition, the UWLP team held 11 community conversations with women of color around the state on their experiences, and a summary of these discussions are included in a series of short reports. We are releasing the first 3 today: Asian, Black, and Pacific Islander.

Second, we have many new resources to highlight this month:

• New Podcast Episodes (with Utah Public Radio): Ultradent: Policies and Practices that Attract, Retain, and Advance Women, Recursion: Policies and Practices that Attract, Retain, and Advance Women, 1-800 Contacts: Policies and Practices that Attract, Retain, and Advance Women, and CHG Healthcare: Policies and Practices that Attract, Retain, and Advance Women.
• Infographics: All of our infographics have now been translated into Spanish.
• Handouts: A number of our handouts have been translated into Spanish.
• Animated Videos: The Utah Education Network (UEN) has partnered with the UWLP to refresh ten 30-second videos on the benefits of women getting their college degrees: Saving for College, Mental Health Benefits of Higher Education, Civic Life, Personal Benefits of Higher Education, The Gift of a Higher Education, Higher Education for Moms, Economic Benefits of Higher Education, A Dad’s Impact on Higher Education, Secret to College Success, and Physical Health Benefits of Higher Education.

Third, here are some of our partners’ upcoming events:

• July 7 (multiple dates) - Women and Money Series (Empowering Financial Wellness, USU Extension)
• July 9 (10:00am-12:00pm) - High Tea With A Twist (Curly Me!)
• July 19 (11:00am-1:00pm) - Business Women's Forum: Networking with Confidence (Business Women's Forum)
• August 2 (1:00pm-3:00pm) - 2022 LEAD Rural Utah (Utah Division of Multicultural Affairs)
• August 25-27 (10:30am-7:15pm, 7:30am-7:15pm, 7:15am-1:30pm) - Becoming an Outdoors Woman – Utah (USU Extension - Washington County)
• September 15-16 (6:00pm-8:00pm, 8:30am-4:00pm) - Women in the Money Conference (Utah Financial Empowerment Coalition, Utah Treasurer’s Office)

Fourth, the Gender-Based Violence Consortium at the University of Utah recently released a white paper titled “Utah State-Wide Needs Assessment: Domestic Violence, Sexual Violence and Human Trafficking” that may be of interest to you. In addition, we track the research related to girls and women by other entities in the state on this webpage.
