September 2024 Newsletter
September Newsletter for the Utah Women & Leadership Project at Utah State University.
Colleagues,
Good morning! I have a number of Utah Women & Leadership Project (UWLP) announcements for September:
First, we are pleased to announce the release of a new research and policy brief titled “The Status of Women Leaders in Government – Utah Counties: A 2024 Update.” Additionally, we have released three new “What Can I Do?” idea sheets for Millard County, Wasatch County, and Kane County (based on community gatherings). Thanks to everyone involved in these publications.
Second, we have a few resources to highlight this month:
Third, we are pleased to announce a new course for men titled “Male Allyship - A New Conversation.” UWLP has just released the much-anticipated male allyship discussion series to help support efforts of A Bolder Way Forward. Using an innovative group-learning approach—led by a video facilitator—there are five engaging conversations (gatherings). We recommend that small groups meet in any setting for sessions that include video segments, activities, discussions, and reflection. Learn about the conversations here, invite others to join, and be prepared for growth and transformation.
Fourth, the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity, the Cox-Henderson Administration, and the UWLP partnered on the initiative titled “100 Companies Championing Women in Utah.” We have now opened nominations for an additional 100 companies to be recognized in a 2024-2025 cohort. If your organization (e.g., company, nonprofit, university) does great things to champion women in Utah, we invite you to submit a nomination: https://inutah.org/100-companies/.
Fifth, here are some of our partners’ upcoming events (check out our community calendar for all events in Utah for girls and women):
Finally, check out some key articles and media published this past month:
